We’re partnering with an established New Zealand construction business with more than 30 years in the industry and a strong track record across commercial, education and government projects.
Alongside traditional construction, the business has developed a growing capability in modular and hybrid construction, including education projects and increasingly complex multi-level modular solutions.
With confirmed work ahead in the Kerikeri and Far North, we’re looking for an experienced Site Manager who can take genuine ownership of a project and carry it from site establishment through to completion.
This isn’t a role for someone who needs the Management beside them every day. You’ll be trusted to run the site: managing subcontractors and trades, driving the programme, coordinating works, maintaining H&S and quality standards, communicating with the client and keeping the project team informed.
Projects will include commercial and education work, with exposure to both traditional and modular methodologies. Experience delivering Ministry of Education projects would be particularly valuable, as would an understanding of the compliance, quality and stakeholder expectations that come with working in live education environments.
What we’re looking for
You’ll know how a building goes together and have enough site experience to anticipate issues rather than simply react to them. Ideally, you’ll already be operating as a Site Manager within commercial construction, although we’re open to someone stepping up if they have the technical grounding and leadership capability to take ownership.
LBP experience is regarded, alongside a strong working knowledge of NZ construction standards, H&S, programming, subcontractor coordination and quality management.
You’ll also need to be comfortable with the digital side of modern site management. Site diaries, H&S records, progress reporting and project documentation need to be kept current throughout the build rather than becoming an administration exercise at the end. Experience with Procore would be useful, but being comfortable learning and using technology is the bigger priority.
Just as important is how you lead. We’re looking for someone who can hold subcontractors accountable, have the difficult conversation when required and keep a programme moving - without creating unnecessary friction along the way.
Why this role?
There’s a good story behind this one.
You’ll be joining an established contractor that combines decades of traditional construction experience with a deliberate move into smarter modular and hybrid construction. Modular isn't a side offering: the business has been developing this capability for around a decade and is now working with more sophisticated multi-level solutions.
You’ll have real ownership of your site, support from an experienced project team and the opportunity to work on confirmed projects across Northland.
And for someone who wants to keep progressing, there’s room to do that. A strong Site Manager who learns the business, develops their commercial capability and proves they can consistently own delivery could have a genuine pathway as the business grows.
