Senior Project Planner
Christchurch | Complex Projects | Project Controls Focus
There’s a difference between people who produce programmes… and those who genuinely understand how projects come together.
This role is for the latter.
You’ll be joining a consultancy where planning and project controls aren’t treated as a support function, they’re central to how projects are delivered. It’s a business that’s built its reputation on doing this properly, and clients come to them for that reason.
What makes this role stand out is the level of involvement. You’re not brought in after the fact to tidy things up, you’re involved early, helping shape how projects are set up, how they run, and how risk is managed from the outset.
You’ll work across a mix of complex construction and infrastructure projects, alongside a team that genuinely values planning as a discipline. It’s a group of people who enjoy getting into the detail, challenging thinking, and working things through properly, without ego.
The culture is a big part of the appeal. It’s professional, but not corporate. People are approachable, collaborative, and trusted to get on with things. There’s a strong sense of ownership, and a genuine respect for the work that planners do.
They’re looking for someone experienced, ideally 10+ years in construction or infrastructure, with a solid background in planning and/or project controls. You’ll be confident working with tools like P6 or similar, but more importantly, you’ll understand how projects are actually built, sequenced and delivered.
Just as important, you want to be a planner. Not someone trying to move into project management, but someone who enjoys the thinking, the structure, and the impact this role can have on a project.
If you’re looking for a role where you’ll be trusted, listened to, and able to genuinely influence outcomes, this is one worth exploring.
