The opportunity
We're working with an established Wellington commercial contractor looking to add an experienced Project Manager to its delivery team.
The business operates across a diverse range of commercial construction projects, including complex new builds, refurbishments and specialist building environments. They've built a strong reputation for delivery and have a solid pipeline of work ahead. As the business continues to develop, there's a real focus on strengthening project delivery, improving systems and ensuring the right people are in place to support the next stage of growth.
They're looking for a capable, organised Project Manager who can take ownership of their projects, work collaboratively with site teams and bring a practical, considered approach to construction.
The role
You'll take responsibility for managing projects from planning through to completion, ensuring they're delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing project programmes, resources and delivery milestones
- Coordinating Site Managers, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers
- Maintaining oversight of quality, health and safety and compliance
- Identifying and managing project risks and resolving issues proactively
- Working closely with the commercial team on budgets, procurement and variations
- Building and maintaining positive client and stakeholder relationships
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standard
About you
We're looking for someone who understands construction, is well organised and knows how to bring people together to get a project delivered.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven Project Management experience in commercial construction
- Experience across commercial, multi-unit residential, architectural or technically complex building projects
- Strong programming, planning and organisational skills
- A sound understanding of construction methodology and buildability
- Good knowledge of health and safety, quality and compliance requirements
- The ability to manage competing priorities and communicate effectively
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and a collaborative attitude
Experience in contract administration and financial management would be beneficial, but we're equally interested in strong delivery-focused Project Managers who bring the right attitude and capability.
Why consider it?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established construction business with an experienced team, a healthy pipeline of work and a genuine focus on delivering quality projects.
The business offers a good balance of structure and autonomy. There's an emphasis on accountability and good processes, but without the unnecessary layers often found in larger corporate environments.
You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your projects, work with experienced construction professionals and contribute to a business that's continuing to invest in its people and operations.
