This opportunity centres around a significant sports and community redevelopment in Auckland. It's a project with high public visibility, multiple stakeholder groups, hard programme milestones and a delivery team that needs an experienced Project Manager capable of bringing all the moving pieces together.
The work combines substantial civil and infrastructure elements with refurbishment, fit-out and building upgrades. There are multiple phases of delivery, live operational considerations, and a broad stakeholder group with differing priorities and expectations.
Success in this role will come from your ability to balance construction delivery with strong communication, commercial awareness and stakeholder management.
The Opportunity
You'll join the project during a critical stage and take ownership of delivery through to completion.
Working closely with senior leadership, consultants, subcontractors and clients, you'll be responsible for ensuring the project remains on programme while maintaining strong relationships across all parties involved.
This is not a role where you'll simply administer a programme from behind a desk. You'll need to be visible, engaged and capable of moving comfortably between site, consultant meetings, governance forums and client discussions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project delivery from planning through to completion
- Develop and maintain construction programmes and key milestones
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and site teams
- Manage client relationships and stakeholder expectations
- Chair and contribute to project control group and consultant meetings
- Drive procurement activities and construction sequencing
- Manage project budgets, variations and commercial performance alongside QS support
- Identify and mitigate programme, commercial and delivery risks
- Ensure high standards of safety, quality and project governance
- Provide clear reporting to senior leadership and clients
We're interested in experienced Project Managers who have delivered complex commercial construction projects and understand what it takes to keep multiple stakeholders aligned while maintaining momentum on site.
You may come from a commercial building, design and build, infrastructure, community facilities, education, sports or public-sector project background.
You'll bring:
- Proven Project Management experience within a main contractor environment
- Experience delivering projects from early planning through to handover
- Strong stakeholder and client management capability
- Confidence working with consultants, end users and governance groups
- Sound commercial and contractual understanding
- Strong programme management skills
- The ability to make decisions, solve problems and maintain momentum under pressure
- Clear communication and a collaborative approach
