Projects typically sit in the $10m to $40m range and include new builds, redevelopments, and complex construction programmes that require strong planning, coordination, and commercial discipline.
They’re looking to appoint a genuine Project Manager to join their delivery team. This is a true PM role, not a senior site manager step up. The focus is on programme ownership, procurement, and commercial control, alongside day to day project leadership.
The role
- You’ll take responsibility for projects from early planning through to completion.
- You’ll develop and manage construction programmes, coordinate procurement in line with programme milestones, and manage risk throughout the build.
- You’ll work closely with QS, construction managers, and site teams, but will be expected to run your own projects without constant oversight.
- You’ll stay across cost reporting, approvals, and contractual requirements, with enough commercial awareness to know where a project really sits at any point in time.
- Projects are mainly Auckland based, with some regional travel depending on project location.
- A Project Manager with solid main contractor experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Strong capability in programming, procurement planning, and contract administration.
- Comfortable managing projects in the $10m to $40m range, or a combination of smaller projects with similar complexity.
- Confident using modern construction systems and technology to manage documentation, programmes, and reporting.
- Someone who wants to sit in a Project Manager role for the medium term and build depth, rather than chasing titles.
- Typically 3 to 5 plus years operating as a Project Manager within a main contractor environment.
- Proven experience running projects end to end, with responsibility for programme, procurement coordination, and commercial outcomes.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to understand cost reports, cashflow, variations, and risk without getting lost in the detail or relying entirely on others.
- Comfortable taking a top level view of a project, knowing when to step in and when to let the team deliver, rather than being pulled into day to day site minutiae.
- Able to balance time, cost, quality, and risk, and adjust approach as projects evolve
- Confident communicating with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders, and representing the business at a project level.
- This is a stable business with a strong forward pipeline and repeat work from established clients.
- The culture is practical and down to earth, with direct access to decision makers and minimal hierarchy.
- You’ll have the opportunity to grow your capability and project scale over time, without being pushed into a senior role before you’re ready.
