Estimator - Insurance Reinstatement

Estimator – Combine Your Building Know-How with Estimating Expertise

About the Company
Well-established, Auckland-based business specialising in insurance reinstatement work across both residential and commercial properties. They’re known for their practical approach, competitive overheads, and strong relationships with major insurers and loss assessors. You’ll be joining a high-trust environment with a great reputation and a grounded, collaborative team culture.

About the Role
You’ll scope and price a wide range of insurance reinstatement projects - from straightforward residential repairs under $30k, to commercial jobs over $1M with structural complexity, asbestos risk, and 3910 contracts. Expect variety in your week, with 2 days based in the East Tamaki office and 3 days out scoping projects on-site.

The BAU work is fast-paced and high volume. The commercial work demands more technical pricing, risk management, and tender documentation, and your ability to present professionally, work closely with project management firms, and clearly articulate your pricing methodology will be key. You will be doing a blend of site inspections, estimating, and client liaison

You’ll be backed by tech like 3D scanning software, an admin support team, and an experienced Estimating Manager.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Scoping reinstatement work on site (BAU and commercial)
  • Pricing from scratch or reviewing supplied scopes
  • Sourcing subcontractor and material quotes
  • Creating clear, compliant quotes for approval by insurers/loss assessors
  • Peer reviewing large jobs and attending pre-starts with PMs
  • Maintaining estimation documentation in internal systems
What’s in it for You
  • Good remuneration with vehicle included
  • Regular working hours (3 days on-site / 2 in office, some flexibility)
  • Exposure to major projects and a steady forward pipeline
  • High-performance but down-to-earth team
About You
  • Strong background in construction estimating, QS, or reinstatement pricing
  • Hands-on site/building experience (ideally LBP or equivalent)
  • Confident working with insurers, loss assessors, and engineers
  • Able to price accurately and flag risks early
  • Clear communicator and professionally presented
  • Organised and tech-savvy, with good systems literacy
  • Comfortable balancing BAU and large commercial work
This is a great role for someone who’s confident pricing work end-to-end, wants variety, and thrives in a team that values capability and integrity over flashiness.
