You will be across the work right from the start. The offshore team complete the take offs, and you will review the numbers, prepare quotes, run RFIs and manage the tender process. You will keep the pipeline moving, gather information early and stay connected with clients while jobs are being priced. The role suits someone who likes being in the mix early and making sure everything is lined up before it progresses.
You will report to the GM and oversee two offshore estimators. You will link in with internal teams, help with bid and no bid decisions and make sure the commercial setup is clear before fabrication begins. Once a project is awarded, you will support project managers with variations, partial claims and any clarifications that come up before and after production.
The work covers telco tower components, rooftop strengthening, bracketry and larger infrastructure packages like gantries, station steel and airport structures. There is also some construction work. The pipeline normally sits between 10 and 30 live quotes, from repeat telco packages through to multi stage bids.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with steel and/or metal work experience. You might come from estimating or QS. You will need to understand how fabrication and installation influence cost and be comfortable dealing with clients early.
Key skills needed:
- Structural steel estimating
- Reading and interpreting drawings
- Understanding fabrication and installation sequencing
- RFIs, tenders and bid management
- Variations and commercial support
- Managing multiple live quotes
- Front end client interaction
- Oversight of offshore support
