Our client is a well-established civil contractor with 17 years under its belt in the Queenstown Lakes market. With over 50 staff and a strong pipeline of subdivision and general civil projects, the company has grown steadily while keeping things simple - do the job right, back your team, and stay focused on quality.
We’re now looking for an experienced Construction Manager to step into a senior role working directly with the General Manager. This is a critical position in the business, with real responsibility across pricing, delivery, and day-to-day operations.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role with a mix of operational and commercial responsibilities. You’ll price and win work (both competitive and negotiated), manage contracts, and support delivery across multiple active sites. You’ll also work closely with the project managers, site supervisors, and engineers, providing oversight and support where needed. When the GM is off, you’ll be the one keeping things moving and representing the business confidently with clients.
What we’re looking for
You’ll need a civil engineering qualification (Diploma or higher) and at least 5 years of experience in civil construction. Strong pricing and delivery experience is essential, and you’ll need to be confident leading teams and managing client relationships. Practical, site-based experience is a big plus, a truck licence or background operating machinery would be useful.
You’ll need to be based in Queenstown Lakes or open to relocating. This is a fully on-site role with no work-from-home options.
What’s on offer
This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive package, company vehicle, and the backing of a solid leadership team. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how things are done, lead from the front, and work on projects that stay local, no working away.
Our client has a strong, stable crew and a culture that values hard work, straight talk, and people who get stuck in.
If you’re ready to step into a senior role with scope and autonomy, we’d love to hear from you.
