I’m working with a privately owned commercial property business that manages several well-known buildings right in the CBD. They’re not corporate, they’re not layered, and they look after their people. The team is small, hands on, and everyone plays a part in keeping the buildings running well and the tenants happy.
This is a newly created role as the business grows. One of the Directors has been carrying all the operational work, so they’re splitting the load and bringing in someone who can take ownership of day to day building operations. If you know your way around buildings, enjoy dealing with people, and like seeing the direct impact of what you do, you’ll fit right in.
What the role involves
- Daily operations across multiple commercial buildings
- Coordinating maintenance, essential services, and repairs
- Managing contractors and keeping work running smoothly
- Regular building walk throughs and staying ahead of issues
- Handling tenant requests and keeping relationships strong
- Keeping on top of BWOF, compliance, and documentation
- Using digital systems to tighten up processes and record keeping
- Helping with small upgrades and projects depending on experience
- A background in construction, building services, facilities, or commercial property
- Good judgement when something’s not right in a building
- Strong organisational skills and comfort using systems
- A calm, practical approach and good people skills
- Happy working in a small, hands on local team
- Living locally or planning to be close by, given the occasional after hours issue
- You get real variety without the noise of a big FM environment
- You’re part of a small team that trusts you to get on with the job
- You work with buildings and people you actually know in the community
- You see the impact of your work straight away, not months later
