About the Company
This is a well-established construction company with a strong presence across the upper North Island. Known for their specialist capabilities in structural concrete and civil works, they’ve built a reputation for delivering quality outcomes across complex commercial and infrastructure projects. With a collaborative, down-to-earth culture and a commitment to doing things the right way, they back their people, invest in their growth, and take pride in the work they do – from the ground up.
About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to take the lead on health and safety across a busy construction operation with sites in Auckland, Hamilton, and Wellington. You'll be on the ground – not behind a desk – supporting supervisors, reviewing risks, leading site audits, and making sure everyone goes home safe. You'll also drive strategy and continuous improvement, report to senior leadership, and have support from an H&S admin.
The role is yours to shape – especially if you bring the confidence and initiative to make it your own.
Key responsibilities include:
- Daily site visits, audits and risk assessments
- Managing incidents, investigations, and reporting
- Leading toolbox talks and staff training
- Overseeing certifications, inductions and documentation
- Staying up to date with legislation and best practices
- Collaborating closely with ops teams and site supervisors
- 5+ years' experience in construction H&S
- Relevant qualification (Diploma, NEBOSH or similar)
- Confident, practical and great with people
- Diplomatic but firm when needed – you know how to hold the line
- Comfortable working across multiple sites, including some travel
- Great remuneration based on experience
- Full autonomy and visibility across the business
- Culture that values people and supports growth
- No red tape, just real work and real impact
