Estimator

We’re working with a long-established commercial contractor with a strong footprint in the lower North Island. They’re on the hunt for an experienced Estimator to join their Palmerston North team and help price a steady pipeline of work across commercial, education, and multi-unit residential builds.

This is a great fit for someone who wants to focus purely on pre-construction pricing - no delivery responsibility, no getting pulled into site work. You’ll work closely with a well-established commercial team and be supported by strong systems and long-term clients.

About the role
You’ll be responsible for producing accurate pricing across both hard-dollar and negotiated jobs. Most work is local, with a mix of ECI, design-build, and traditional tendering. You’ll liaise with consultants and subcontractors, contribute to bid strategy, and help shape pricing processes as part of a close-knit team.

The commercial team is well-structured, so you’ll work alongside a Procurement Lead on front-end strategy and hand over to QSs and PMs once the project is secured.

We’re looking for:
  • Main contractor or commercial estimating experience
  • Strong measurement and pricing capability
  • Good understanding of NZ construction codes and methods
  • Solid communication skills - you'll be working with consultants and clients
  • Qualification preferred but not essential if backed by experience
What’s on offer includes a competitive salary with a vehicle, paid hourly on a 44-hour base week. Additional benefits include a health insurance contribution after six months, birthday leave, and an extended break over the Christmas period, and there’s flexibility to work from home one day a week.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to settle into a secure, well-supported role with room to grow. If you’re in the region or open to making the move, we’d love to hear from you.
