This is a long-term opportunity with room to step into leadership, shape the estimating function, and support the team's future growth.
About the role
You’ll be responsible for pricing and tendering a broad range of commercial and residential projects, from traditional tenders to ECI and negotiated contracts.
The role is well set up with a clear handover, support from a senior team, and a dedicated procurement lead managing methodology and front-end engagement.
This isn’t a dual QS/Estimator role. Your focus stays on estimating, with handover to the project team at contract award.
You’ll be across:
- Reviewing drawings and specs, preparing detailed pricing
- Managing subcontractor pricing and RFIs
- Pulling together pricing strategies with the Procurement Lead
- Liaising with consultants and clients during pre-construction
- Supporting and developing junior estimators over time
- Main contractor estimating experience in commercial or complex residential
- Strong measurement and technical pricing capability
- Confidence working with consultants and clients
- Solid understanding of NZ building codes and NZS4202
- Either a tertiary qualification or proven on-the-job experience
You’ll be looking at a competitive salary, plus a vehicle and hourly overtime pay based on a 44-hour week. There’s a health insurance subsidy after six months, birthday leave, and a decent break over Christmas (around three weeks). You’ll also have the option to work from home one day a week, and join a well-supported team with a steady pipeline of work.
This is a good option for someone wanting more ownership over the pricing side, or a Senior Estimator ready to step up and shape a function. You’ll be joining a business with great people, a solid pipeline, and a clear view on succession.
